Happy Anniversary!

Warning: If you become skittish around swoony couples, nauseated by romantic novels, or repulsed by chick flicks, then it might be best for you to avert your eyes or close the browser. The following discourse contains numerous references to the emotions of "love" and "happiness."
Last year on this date, Morgan and I started our blessed journey toward eternal bliss. Some may call it fate, others may call it destiny...I call it plain ol' luck that Morgan agreed to watch Hairspray with me. Not many guys would do that with a non-girlfriend female...unless he happenes to be totally gobsmacked by her intense charm and good looks (10 points to me for using 'gobsmacked' in a sentence.) ;) Well, we had been on a few dates before this movie-night, and we were definitely in the intense flirting stage, but this was the test. This was the night where he would watch a tremendously girly musical and hopefully go for my hand.

Now, I feel it is necessary to delve a little further into my girlish mentality and mention that hand-holding is no casual event in my book. It is one step away from kissing, which makes it a PRETTY BIG DEAL! (hehe) That being said, keep in mind that I do not give my hand out lightly.

About half-way through the movie, I was still clutching the decorative pillow tightly with both hands. (What can I say, my mother taught me to play hard-to get.) For some reason or another, I got up to turn the light on for a minute...I think someone knocked on the door and wanted to borrow something. When I flipped the light switch back off and went to sit down, I noticed that my "hard-to-get" pillow was mysteriously nestled next to Morgan on the opposite end of the couch - just out of reach. Looks like he knew a few tricks as well. ;)

Well, just about the time Christopher Walken went in to kiss John Travolta (playing Ms. Edna Turnblad), Morgan groaned with disgust and my hand shot up to cover his eyes. As soon as I did this, I knew I had just blown my game. My hand was now available! It was out in the open for anyone to hold! Morgan promptly reached up to pull my hand off his eyes and...drumroll please...he never let go.

The rest is history.

Happy Anniversary Morgan! I love you!

You know,I'm kind of jealous I don't have some fun, cute story about the first time Daniel and I held hands. It sort of happened without our realization--heck, I was still going for his best friend! But then one day we were walking to Teton Thai (the best Thai restaurant in Jackson) and I realized he was holding my hand. We were just friends, but it was so natural. Gosh, I wish I had figured out then that I was going to marry him...I would have been so much more giddy!

I just found your blog through your mom's! You are SO cute!! I hope you like your engagements. I am in love with them! I'm going to work on posting some to our photo blog tonight!

Oh - and NEVER apologize for being "schloopy" and expressing how much you love your man! I had a bit of "drama" on my blog last summer when someone told me that I need to be more sensitive to people who don't have relationships or marriages as good as mine and that I shouldn't post about how wonderful Jeff is. But ... the support I had afterwards was great. Everyone told me to keep writing about how much I love him! So I still do! :)

Yay! I love that picture of you too! Pretty soon you'll be posting wedding photos. That story of you guys holding hands is too cute.

You want to know the first time Aaron held my hand? The day we went to pick your mom up at the airport, 4 days AFTER we got engaged. I was like, "Look Aaron, you have to hold my hand or something." It was really cute and we've not stopped holding hands. I still get gidding when we do. Love your guts.

Preserve that story for many generations. Your daughter will definitely want to hear this one over and over and over.
