The Craft Bug

Leaves changing. Nippy air. Jackets.

Cue: craft craving.

And I'm not talking about scarecrows or floral arrangements in pumpkins. I'm talking about this:
Holy LOVE it. chirp chirp.

I wish my bedroom could look like this. I'm contemplating making a duvet and tricking out our room to look all relaxed and breezy. I love the wicker. I really love that lantern.

And how cool is this Thank You card? Yea. That's what she said.

The new babies in my life...

Here are the newest babies in my life...aren't they adorable!?

My new cousin Zoe Marie... I haven't met Zoe yet, but I already love her! She is going to be a beautiful, animal-loving, softball playing girl...just like her mama.

My honorary neice Ellie...I love the picture on the right. We were at a football game and it just screams, "Doh!! Not another interception!" :)

And my new twin nephews Remington and Colton! (I'm sorry if I spelled them wrong...not sure how to yet!)

The crossroads of life + no solid plan = identity crisis at 21

Hello.

My name is Cate, and I have no idea what I want to do with my life.

Well, let me rephrase that. I have no idea what I want to do with my life when I graduate college in a few months because I don't like my major anymore and I loathe the idea of grad school. And I guess when you're about to graduate college people love to ask you, "So, what are you going to do with your degree?" I guess it's a perfectly logical question to ask...if the person actually has a plan and is feeling confident and secure in their choices. If someone asks me this question however, I either lash out irrationally at the inquisitive being or shrink into a corner and begin whimpering like a baby chihuahua (I'm assuming they whimper...but that's just a guess).

Lucky for me, today's lecture in my Professional Practices class was devoted solely to the subject of graduate school, how to apply, and why you should go. Oh, and did I mention that underlying condescending feeling my professor kept shooting at me that said "If you don't go to grad school you're a worthless nothing who is wasting away my precious time. I'm important and brilliant and I did something with my degree."

*whimper whimper*

Perhaps I should preface my latest blog entry for those of you who are not up to date on my latest dilemma. I am majoring in Communication Disorders...aka Speech Pathology...aka Speech Therapy...aka the person who helps kids say their "r's" (according to most people). For the majority of 3 years, I loved my major. It felt like a great fit. The subjects were interesting and engaging. Then one day, I realized I didn't want to do assessments all the time and write reports after every session and battle with school boards. Okay okay I sound a little like I'm griping...I would enjoy spending time with the children...but to be honest, the thought of ending up doing work like my professors did in the videos I watched in class so often just about killed me. GASP!! I didn't want to be an SLP anymore.

So what do I do when I'm a semester away from graduating with a degree that is useless without a masters?

Take lots and lots and lots of pictures.

And start writing that book I've been planning for years.

And eat ice cream.

And cuddle with Morgan while he tells me I'm important and that I can do anything.

And cry a little. (Well maybe a lot on some days.)

And pray that somehow my little business will take off and I can work full time doing something I love.

I took this picture when I was visiting the fam in Virginia. It makes me happy. Just because I don't want to go to grad school doesn't mean I am not smart or can't do cool things like make a cool arrangement in a vintage vase and get the exposure just right and then make it look all textured and vintage and fabulous in post-production.

I'm Cate, and I am COOL!
