Summer List (Cont.)

My Summer Dreams

1. Learn how to knit.
2. Learn how to use a sewing machine.
3. Make something by knitting or sewing.
4. Read a few books.
5. Visit church history sites.
6. Design a vintage photo session with models, props and authentic clothing. I'm VERY excited for this one.
7. Have a picnic with Morgan.
8. Go to the water park.
9. Buy a washing machine!
10. Continue writing my novel. 

Well, I haven't done as well as I would have liked...but I still have a little bit of time left. I'm thinking of taking a knitting class through my community education program...so stay tuned on that one. As for the sewing machine, not sure if that's going to work anytime soon. Anyone want to teach me??

The washing machine thing didn't pan out, so for now we'll be using the coin-op laundromat in the basement next door. *sigh*


My novel...is back on the shelf while I finish up my photo sessions. I am so swamped right now it's kind of unreal. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying it...I just don't have time for much else. :)


I can't wait to make a Fall 2011 list! I'm SO excited for the holidays to start up again! 

...normal at last!

Woohoooooo! Today is a GREAT day. Do you know why? 

Because this thing:

(aka thyroid)

is finally NORMAL! 

After a year of fluctuating TSH levels (and alternating between hypo- and hyperthyroidism) it has finally leveled out and is a-ok! I couldn't be more grateful. 

New Shop

Awhile ago I wrote THIS post on the concept of "creating."

I've been trying to use my creative energy to make uplifting artwork. I wanted something a little different from my temple prints, so I tried my hand at graphic prints. They're not uber complicated, but I like them. I started a new etsy shop that has an LDS theme...temples and uplifting/motivational quotes. It's been a lot of fun!

I sell the artwork as a printable download for only $2.50. I wanted to make artwork that was affordable and accessible to LDS families on a tight budget. There are a lot of other amazing shops on etsy selling similar products, but it can be kind of expensive. This way poor college kids like me can have something cute in their house to remind them of key gospel principles.

The end of an era.

Harry Potter and I are very close.

Some people don't understand how big of a fan I am.

When I was in 6th grade (the same age as Harry!), a nerdy kid in my reading class did a book report on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I thought to myself, "LAME! Who would read a book about wizards?" By the following year, I had read books 1-4 over and over again.

I visited fan based websites daily. I wrote fan fiction.

I had a countdown in my journal for the release of the 5th, 6th, and 7th book.

I printed pictures of the actors and pasted them in my journal.

I had a HUGE crush on Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley). We were born only one day apart you know.

My final English project in high school was a biography and twenty minute presentation on J.K. Rowling. 

So now you may understand why I sat in the movie theater at the end of the 7th movie Part 2 and sobbed. Not one glistening tear, not a few sniffles. I literally sobbed.

I felt like a part of me had died...had vanished forever. I felt a huge gaping whole in my life...and as sad as this sounds, I am not being dramatic. I grew up with Harry Potter. I remember standing in line at midnight several times to buy a book. About wizards and witches and magical worlds. 

And now it's over.

I couldn't accept that fact though...so I asked my mom to mail me my collection of books so I could cling onto that precious part of my childhood a little longer.

I just finished the first book, and am really looking forward to re-reading the series. :)

Thanks J.K. Rowling...you really changed my life!
