Oh the marvelous month of September

At work today we sang a song about September, and how the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting cooler. Now, I don't know about you, but my days still seem pretty dang long. Between school and work, I'm exhausted at the end of the day. Sometimes I look at the clock and wonder if I somehow teleported into a parallel universe where time ticks backwards. As for the nights getting cooler...I'd have to agree. I've already busted out my fall-ish jackets. You know the kind...the lovely "it's-too-hot-for-a-coat-but-too-cold-for-a-shirt" apparel.

As I was pondering the marvelous month of September, I started thinking of all the great things that will happen in the next 15 days. According to one website I found, today is "Make a hat day." (And to think, I left my sewing kit at home. Guess I'll have to wait until next year.)

Tomorrow is "Collect Rocks Day" and Wednesday is National Apple Dumpling Day. The Band-Aid was invented on September 22nd, which also happens to be the first day of Fall. The Office season premiere is September 25th, "Crush a can day" is on September 27th, and most importantly, the safety pin was invented on September 30th.

Honestly, what other month could compete with collecting rocks and crushing cans? I vote that every day should be "National September is the Best Month Day." (But I also like August, November, December, May, and June. Maybe we could establish some sort of rotating holiday observance. Kind of like how the weather service rotates the names of hurricanes every season.)
